After working in International Banking in New York City for several banks and many years later, I decided to change career to focus on becoming a counselor. I completed my master’s degree in social work with a focus in clinical counseling at Rutgers University in New Jersey, after graduate school, my journey began with managing a shelter for individuals who have been abused in a domestic violence situation.

After working in that position for over three years, I was offered a position to develop a program for families who are in the Foster Care System. As I developed the program with a team, we witness the impacts on how violence affects families, it was clear how children are placed in the social welfare system for safety reasons.

Many families are affected by drug use which causes another layer of entangled struggles which is challenging for families to navigate through. By witnessing what these families are faced with, I was then propelled to look at how I can better support these families, it was then that I decided to go back to school and study substance abuse and the impact it has on families. As I was preparing to work with families whose life have been changed by substance abuse it was easier to support these families with the help needed. By working closely with families, it was easier to provide support to help these families navigate through various systems without fear of failure. I later received training through FEMA to work with family who are faced with natural disaster and crisis situations to deal with their trauma.

I decided to become a Life Coach as I watch individuals who have unique strengths trying to navigate the most challenging experiences that life throws at them. I was able to witness the pain and impact grief loss has on individuals and families. Through grief support group individuals and families in these communities can talk about their losses of missing the person that they love who is no longer around to share their lives.

Currently I volunteer at a facility in Florida working with college age students who are adjusting to changes from being away from home and adjusting to their new environment.

My Passions:

Traveling through the U.S gave us the
freedom in our Motorhome to stop at places that was breathtakingly beautiful and an opportunity to meet new
people from all walks of life. Taking that step to live in a motorhome and travelling was an accomplished goal that I
dreamt about for years. Having to let go of my job, letting go of our home was challenging yet it gave me new
insights as to who I am, and the endless possibilities life has to offer. Risk taking can be fearful, finding meaning of
your life must come with taking risk and be responsible for yourself.
